Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno Supports Creative District Workshop in Bintan

BINTAN, DURASI.co.id – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno attended the Creative Regency/City Workshop (KaTa Creative) which took place at Plaza Lagoi Bay, Bintan, Sunday, 17 September 2023.

Sandiaga Uno expressed his appreciation for the support of regional governments, both Riau Islands Province and Bintan Regency, which have supported hundreds of creative economy actors through Creative Regency workshop training. He revealed that Bintan has now become one of the top three destinations for foreign tourists in Indonesia.

“We hope that the Riau Islands can produce creative economic products that open up large business opportunities and employment opportunities. All the products I saw were good, and of course require assistance to make them even better,” said Minister Sandiaga Uno.

Sandiaga Uno explained that the creative concept was designed to receive input from creative economy players and strengthen the ecosystem.

He also announced special training plans for design and packaging surgery for creative economy products.

Meanwhile, Regional Secretary of the Riau Islands Province (Kepri) Adi Prihantara, who was also present at the event, expressed his thanks to Minister Sandiaga Uno for his extraordinary innovation in supporting creative MSMEs. He hopes that Bintan’s creative MSME products can compete both at national and international levels.

“We certainly really need support and assistance from the Ministry of Tourism to truly empower the creative economy in Riau Islands to become more advanced and competitive,” said Adi Prihantara.

The Creative Regency/City Development Program (KaTa) aims to explore, utilize and develop the creative economy which is a regional flagship.

This program also aims to build awareness and commitment from all stakeholders, so as to create a conducive creative district/city development ecosystem. It is hoped that this activity can encourage stronger collaboration between creative economic stakeholders and strengthen their role in the regional economy.

Also attending the activity were the Regent of Bintan Roby Kurniawan, Deputy Regent of Bintan Ahdi Muqsith, Regional Secretary of Bintan Regency Rony Kartika, Acting Head of the Riau Islands Tourism Service Luki Zainan Prawira, and a number of top officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism.
